On Sunday, November 16, 2025, we will be holding the Holodomor Remembrance Ceremony at the Texas State Capitol. The Holodomor was the man-made famine that took the lives of millions of Ukrainians in 1932 and 1933. Each November, Ukrainians around the world gather to remember and to honor those lives and to reflect on resilience, dignity, and cultural memory.
The ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda will begin at 12:00 PM and will include music, dance, words of reflection, and community voices.
Performers include vocalist Oleksandra Pelitu with the Cantastoria Choir directed by Stephen Tyler, a youth performance by Catherine Krymer, and a traditional dance “Metelytsya” performed by the Sonyashnyk (Sunflower) Ukrainian Dance Group.
After the ceremony, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, we will host a Holodomor Remembrance Art Exhibition in the Legislative Conference Center (Floor E2), featuring works by Ukrainian artists Yana Nikutina and Iryna Lishchynska.
The exhibition reflects the themes of memory, grief, endurance, and cultural identity across generations.
