About this Event

Holman United Methodist Church is pleased to announce that we are meeting regularly for in-person worship, every Sunday morning. Our sanctuary doors open for both the 8:00 o'clock and 11 o’clock morning services. In person worship services will continue through the remainder of 2022 and into 2023, as it is safe and healthy to do so.

We look forward to seeing everyone again. To keep everyone safe we will require the adherence to all Los Angeles County Department of Public Health mandates and CDC guidelines as they pertain to the COVID-19 safety and health precautions.

• We will require proof of vaccination and/or a negative Covid19 test within 72 hours of attending church service.

• We ask that all congregants self-check prior to attending in-person service and that they be free of any COVID-19 symptoms, and not be are under isolation or quarantine orders.

• While in the sanctuary, we will practice hand sanitizing, mask wearing and safe physical distancing at all times.

• Holman United Methodist Church (“Holman”) has put in place preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but cannot prevent you and/or your children from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while utilizing Holman’s services or premises. It is not possible, even with heightened cleaning procedures and social distancing, to prevent against the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to utilize Holman’s services and/or enter onto Holman’s premises you may be exposing yourself (and your children) to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

• We will utilize the Eventbrite technology platform for pre-registration of a maximum of 125 congregants and staff members, at each worship service, to help with the mandated contact tracing.

• Pre-registration by telephone available as needed by contacting the HUMC office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday only, between 10am to 2pm.

• Attendance will be verified upon arrival by Relaunch Task Force Volunteers using pre-registration documents at check-in/welcome area.

• On-site registration available but access for worship service may be limited due to the online registrations and space permitted due to physical distancing requirements.

Our optional worship experiences will be continue to be available and recommended for our vulnerable and overflow populations through the “Live” broadcast and streaming of both the 8:00AM and 11:00 AM worship on Holman’s YouTube Channel. The 11:00AM service will be available for the listening audience on KJLH 102.3 FM .

When will Holman UMC resume in-person worship services?

- Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

What are the guidelines from the United Methodist Church?

- The Office of the Bishop and Cal-Pac Conference remind all churches to study State, County, and City guidelines and submit a short description of the reopening plans to the District Superintendent. “We remind our churches that it will be up to the appointed clergy and elected church leadership to make the final determination as how and when to return to in-person worship. It is also up to each congregation member to determine the safety of their attendance.”

Will the church continue the virtual worship services?

- Yes. We will continue our traditional 11:00 AM live broadcast on KJLH Radio Free 102.3 FM and worldwide on www.kjlhradio.com. Also, the 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM worship services may be live streamed on the Holman YouTube Channel — youtube.com/holmanchurch.

What directions will be given to members and visitors entering the sanctuary?

- Holman will implement procedures established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Guidelines for Communities of Faith from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Members and visitors will be expected to cooperate with the following requirements:

- Agree with the Holman UMC COVID-19 Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver

- Self-screen for symptoms of and/or exposure to COVID-19 before coming to the church

- Register on EventBrite for attendance at the in-person worship service

- Vaccinated: Provide printed/electronic proof of vaccination

- Unvaccinated: Provide printed/electronic proof of negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours

- Wear a facial mask while in the sanctuary and on the church property

- Maintain 6-feet of social distancing and minimal physical contact with non-family members

- Use entrances/exits as indicated by the social distancing plan

- Remain seated in designated sanctuary pews as indicated by the social distancing plan

- Enter/exit only designated areas of the church property

- Maintain social distancing and use of facial mask while in designated restrooms

- Use women’s/men’s restrooms in JML Multipurpose Building only (2 individuals at a time)

- Participate in the order of worship as directed by clergy/liturgist

- Exit property promptly at the conclusion of the worship service

- Cooperate with volunteers serving as ushers and greeters to provide assistance

What will be done to reduce the risk of exposure to infection?

- Disinfection and sanitizing of surfaces in the sanctuary before and after each service

- Cleaning of restrooms prior to each use; two (2) individuals at a time permitted to enter

- Seating in alternate pews for each worship service maintaining 6-feet of social distancing

- Removal of shared items: Bibles - hymnals - bulletins - envelopes - note cards - pens - fans

- Requirement for attendees to wear facial masks at all times

- Clergy modification of Order of Worship to limit congregational responses that are sung/spoken

- Endorsement and requested proof of vaccination for all eligible attendees

- If unvaccinated, required proof of negative COVID-19 test results within 72-hours of worship

May I bring my offering envelope to the church if I attend the worship service?

- Yes. An usher will safely receive the offering envelope. Thank you for preparing the envelope prior to your arrival at the church. We will minimize the handling of paper and sharing of pens. All members are encouraged to use Givelify or Vanco to submit their offering electronically.

May we come to the church for meetings and activities with other ministry areas?

- No, not at this time. The sanctuary is the only area of the church that will be used for worship services. As 2022 begins and the status of the pandemic improves, we hope to consider inclusion of other activities.
