Holly North Live & x.m & Onur & Daben
Holly North is a Berlin-based electronic musician and
live-act whose music sits at the intersection of acoustic
and electronic productions. Born and raised on
Germany's Baltic coast in Greifswald, he grew up in a
musical household, taking up the cello at age seven
before expanding to piano and electric bass in his
teenage years. Alongside his musical education, life in
Eastern Germany gave him an early and enduring
political awareness that quitly shapes the emotional
weight of everything he makes.
After a formative period in New York, where he
immersed himself in the electronic music scene, Holly
returned to Europe and planted himself in Berlin. His
2021 single Youth, a slow-burning melodic track that
accumulated over two million Spotify
streams, announced him as a singular new voice in the
scene, one equally comfortable in the world of acoustic
instruments as in the architecture of electronic sound.
The recognition that followed led him to Christian
Löffler's respected Ki Records, where he released his
most ambitious work to date: NO CITY NO SEA
(2024), a ten-track album described by Holly himself as
"an ambiguous allegory of thoughts and feelings that
were always too hard to tell and too easy to forget."
True to the DIY spirit behind the music, each of the
300 vinyl copies was given a unique, hand-crafted
cover made by Holly personally.
Holly’s inter-genre pursuits include documentary and
short film productions as well as scoring. As a live
performer, Holly is something apart from a standard
live-act. He brings his cello and bass to the stage
alongside his electronics, turning each show into a
mesmerizing live experience. While he is currently
developing a new live show with a drummer, he has
toured across Europe alongside Christian Löffler,
played the legendary Tanzwüste stage at Fusion
Festival and actively decided to play Vyrii Festival in
Kyiv even after the Russian invasion.
His motto "Always different and always new!" is less a
slogan than a genuine creative commitment, evident
across a body of work that spans electronic, melodic
house as well as indie pop elements. Holly North is an
artist for whom music is never decoration, it is the
language for everything that resists being said any other
way.
