Holidays at The Rock, a weeks-long celebration running from Saturday, Nov. 22 to Saturday, Jan. 3. This festive celebration of the winter season will feature holiday movie nights, shopping at holiday markets, an ice-skating rink, a New Year’s Eve bash and many more festive activities, as well as a brand-new lineup of special holiday themed menu items at the seasonal “Santa’s Shack” kiosk. Entry for daily programming is free, with select activations including a cost.
HOLIDAYS AT THE ROCK HIGHLIGHTS
Official Tree Lighting – Tip off Holidays at The Rock and bring in the cheer with the official tree lighting ceremony at Frost Plaza on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 6:55PM. We’ll light the massive Christmas tree, adorned with ornaments and lights, to ring in the holiday season and attendees are invited to stay to enjoy the Dueling Pianos show, tipping off at 7PM.
Toy Drive with Blue Santa – The Rock will be hosting a toy drive supporting Blue Santa in their efforts to distribute gifts to children in need across San Antonio. Fans can stop by Frost Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 3 to 4PM to take a picture with Blue Santa and bring him their contribution to the toy drive. Donated toys should be new and unwrapped.
Ice-Skating Rink – This outdoor ice-skating rink will be available for all to enjoy Thursday and Friday evenings from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 11AM to 10PM, and open every day the weeks of Nov. 24, Dec. 22 and Dec. 29, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A sign-up link to open on TheRockAtLaCantera.com so attendees can save their spot on the ice. Skates will be available for rental or customers can bring their own.
Holiday Movie Nights – From Monday, Nov. 24 through Wednesday, Nov. 26, catch a special lineup of family-friendly films centering the season of gratitude, starting at 7PM. On Dec. 12, The Rock will host “Frozen Friday,” a double feature of Frozen and Frozen 2 presented by SWBC beginning at 7PM, complete with costumes, sing-alongs, ice skating, and winter fun for the whole family. Dec. 20 through Dec. 23 will be four back-to-back nights of fan favorite movies, beginning at 7PM, selected by The Rock’s social media followers. Fans can stay tuned on Instagram to participate in the movie selection polls in December.
Holiday Markets – Shop for presents and get into the giving spirit at the holiday market at Frost Plaza, taking place every Friday and Saturday throughout December from 6 to 10PM. The market will feature local vendors offering creative gift ideas and holiday treats.
Rock the Clock New Years Eve Party: Come rock out the old and ring in the new year at The Rock on Dec. 31 from 8PM to 1AM. The party will feature music from Rhythm and Beats as well as a fireworks show immediately following the ball drop. Tickets go on sale on Monday, Oct. 27 on TheRockatLaCantera.com, with VIP options available.
SPECIAL MENU ITEMS AT “SANTA’S SHACK”
Ice Ice Dady on Frost Plaza will transform into “Santa’s Shack” for the duration of Holidays at The Rock, adding a lineup of festive drinks and snacks. Included in the seasonal menu will be the 12 Snowballs of Christmas, a special holiday snow cone menu featuring festive flavors for all ages, such as the 21+ “Cousin Eddie,” a bourbon-spiked eggnog with nutmeg whip and a smoked cinnamon stick, or Rudolph’s Red Cherry Top, a cherry-strawberry swirl with a red gummy nose. The “holiday sips” menu will include cozy seasonal drinks like Nutella hot chocolate, boozy hot chocolate, hot buttered rum, mulled red wine, and the White Christmas martini. The Shack will also offer festive and fun snacks such as a s’mores station, reindeer chow, Christmas cookie kits, fresh, flavorful tamales and more.
