Heritage is all the things passed along from the past. They can be favorite family heirlooms and keepsakes. They can be traditions and customs brought to Wisconsin from elsewhere, as well as, new ones invented here. They can even be the physical places like the Yawkey House itself, preserved as a community treasure. This year's theme of Honoring Heritage explores the stories of the many types of heritage within our communities during the winter holidays.
The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks will once again have a Sweet Landmarks Gingerbread Showcase with beautifully decorated gingerbread houses on display.
Admission to the Woodson History Center is always free. Guided tours of the Yawkey House Museum will feature reenactors, highlighting the Yawkey family from the perspective of the people that were an integral part of the household, their staff. Guests will enjoy the holiday decorations, history and architectural details of the exquisite house itself.
The last tour leaves the Woodson History Center at 3:00 pm. Tour tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the Woodson History Center on the day of the event or by reserving spots online at https://www.ticketsource.com/mchstickets.
Parking is available on-street, First Presbyterian Church parking lot, the rear of the YMCA Lot A , the corner of 3rd and Fulton Street lot and handicap parking alongside the Woodson History Center. Please follow the signs.
