Holiday workshops: Measuring the Earth (Year 7 - 9)
About this Event
Bring your craft skills and creative mind as we explore strange shapes, crazy creations and find a way to shove a large object though a small hole!
This workshop takes a fresh perspective on the physical world, takes a look at unique challenges and reveals some surprising results.
Participants will look at alternatives to plain old circular wheels and how a smooth journey doesn’t depend on having a flat road.
They will use their folding, cutting and building skills to create their own shapes and take home some showstopping tricks for the whole family to try.
We’ll also find out how popular music groups have used the spatial elements and physical principles in creative ways to bring a special ingredient to their performances that will ignite the imagination!
‘Measuring the Earth’ includes visualisation, creativity, geometry and physical intuition through engaging problems and inspiring demonstrations.
For children who have just completed Years 7, 8 and 9 this term - please book based on your child’s current/most recent school year, not their new year group from September. This typically corresponds to children aged around 11–14 years old. We reserve the right to refund or deny entry to those who are not in the correct year group.
Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (14 calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
