About this Event
Islamic geometric patterns have adorned palaces, madrassas and mosques, and illuminated manuscripts from Spain to China for over a thousand years. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore how these beautiful and intricate designs are made.
Using templates and grids – participants will learn how complex patterns can grow from basic lines and circles. Participants will outline and colour a variety of traditional patterns from a geometric grid made from circles and lines. Participants will then develop eightfold geometric designs, discovering how many different patterns can emerge from the same underlying structure.
This workshop combines drawing, geometry and creativity, offering insights into the mathematical principles behind Islamic art.
This workshop is strictly for 9 - 11 year-olds.
Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (14 calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
