Sit back and enjoy a one-hour program of familiar and cherished holiday music from the 1940s. You’ll hear the fascinating stories behind the writing of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Baby It’s Cold Outside, Winter Wonderland and The Christmas Song. And how Merry Christmas Darling was composed in 1946 but took 32 years to find its way onto a Carpenters Christmas album. You’ll see movie clips of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Judy Garland), Here Comes Santa Claus (Gene Autry) and Silver Bells (Bob Hope). There are also performance videos of All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth (Spike Jones), Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (Vaughn Monroe), Winter Wonderland (Perry Como) and Blue Christmas (written in the 1940s but recorded by Elvis Presley in the 1950s). Other featured artists include Bing Crosby, Andrews Sisters, Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis.
