Hole to Hole — Book Release
About this Event
"Hole is something to aim for, or something to avoid. Hole is something to punch and/or mend, to dig and/or fill. Hole from which to peep, hole that leaks. Hole is a subject, and/or an abject form of being. Hole is an absence, and a metaphor for absence. Hole takes on meaning across social, sexual, material fields, and as easily releases all meaning — so gutting it is.
Hole is portal, of course, and a puncture to the binary, the two-sided pane. After hole, no longer can inside be neat from outside. Hole foretells erosion of the built environment, its corollary built comforts — a loss of containment, control. Something will seep, if not flood, in or out or both.
Here, hole holds space wide open for these assignments. After all, hole is also a surface, with surface area. These elegies, essays, rubbings, revisions were made in reverence of hole, the feeling that comes from unknown depth or latitude, from reverberations of its impact."
