About this Event
Come enjoy an evening with Holding Court, a literary salon with two rounds of poets and writers in a beautiful outdoor courtyard In Los Angeles Chinatown. Location will be updated upon ticket sales and survey. For planning, please put on your GPS our community partner near the location: LA Chinatown's community space Studious Coworking Space (418 Bamboo Lane, between Broadway and Hill). Perks and raffle prizes for attendees will be announced at the event! Purchase of event souvenir tote bags here help pay for the production costs and will have special.
Meal and drink specials are provided by our restaurant featuring premium teas, cocktails, and Chinese and Taiwanese food to savor while our literary luminaries perform. Please note that meal options are only available with ticket reservations here. Veggies come with the three options: chicken+ rice, pork+rice, or vegan soba noodles. 1 drink ticket covers cold brew tea or beer. 2 drink tickets are required for wine, soju, cocktail, or mocktail options.
For the spontaneous, there will be pastries and additional drinks available for purchase at the event.
Your advance ticket purchase helps us plan and produce our 200 attendee event of "joy as resistance." Comedian Dylan Adler will help us open each set of performers with some musical comedy. Don't miss our set times starting at 6pm! Ready to party? Get your tickets now before we sell out.
Cocktail tables and some cafe tables with seating are available, first come, first served.
Glitteratti ticket holders: You're invited to sit with these reserved seats in front of our stage, get a souvenir tote bag with perks, and be ready to get your books signed early. Meal and 1 drink ticket included.
Stardust ticket holders: You're invited to a meal and 1 drink ticket.
Moonbeam ticket holders: You're invited to two drink tickets for a wider variety of drink options (2 tix required for wine, soju, cocktail, or mocktails).
Souvenir tote bags designed by one of our poets. Your order now helps us cover event production costs. Limited number of tote bags for sale at the event.
- This event is volunteer-led and designed to include a wide diversity of under-represented performers, taking the opportunity of literary luminaries visiting LA already for a national conference. We pay some of our event staff and everyone on our team gets perks and food and drink.
- Please kindly help us with your RSVP now. Limited tickets available with early bird promo codes. We will close ticket sales for meals tix on March 19th so the restaurant can prep for our party!
- Everyone is welcome: AWP conference goers, local Los Angeles community, friends of the performers, book nerds, youth, podcast listeners, and anyone who wants to be joyful and merry.
- Your tickets here help us pay for production costs. There will be an event table with info to donate to LA fire relief efforts and mutual aid funds. Proceeds after we cover costs will towards fire relief directed funds.
- If you're challenged with limited funds and really want to attend, please message the organizer with the subject heading "Holding Court request" and a link to your social media. If we have donated tickets available, there will be a lottery 2 days before the event.
- Please arrive by 5:30pm as we will start performances at 6pm and finish by 9pm to have time for getting your food and drink, book signings, and mingling.
- Please consider taking public transit (location convenient to stations), or park in the garage of the venue for $3, with ticket validation. Please bring your ticket with you to the restaurant cashier for the stamp. If other parking is needed, nearby lots are about $5.
- Please message us if you would like to reserve seating for disabilities or other needs. There is a ramp accessible from the street entrance.
- Books are for sale after the event. Consider pre-ordering your books to arrive in your hands before the event so you can get your book signings easier and quicker!
