HKUGA Symphonic Band Live in Paris!
About this Event
The HKUGA College Symphonic Band, led by Music Director Ms. Eleanor Luk, Conductor Mr. Ocean Yip, and Conductor Laureate Mr. Maurice Poon, is renowned for its artistic excellence. 70 musicians aged 9-18 have prepared extensively to compete in the WMC Kerkrade (Wereld Muziek Concours) 2026. After finishing the competition, they are taking their music on the road with 2 full concerts in Amsterdam and Paris. They are excited to be finishing their tour here in Paris at the Notre-Dame-des-Blancs-Manteaux!
These dedicated musicians deliver captivating performances marked by technical mastery and emotional depth. The Band has earned numerous prestigious accolades, demonstrating their commitment to musical excellence. Their achievements include Gold Medals in the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflow Competition’s Symphonic Band category for two consecutive years, the Championship in the 77th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival’s Secondary Concert Band Competition and a Gold Award in the Hong Kong JSMA Secondary School Band Competition 2025. These accomplishments highlight not only their technical proficiency but also the strong sense of teamwork and community within the ensemble.
The band’s success reached an international level in July 2025, when they were awarded the Gold Award at the 33rd Australian International Music Festival Sydney 2025 – Concert Band Competition in Australia, cementing their reputation as one of Hong Kong’s finest youth ensembles.
Beyond accolades, the band fosters teamwork, perseverance, and a shared passion for music, inspiring audiences and musicians alike through the power of collaborative artistry.
