What's a History Salon?Feeling the need to talk about current events and discuss the ramifications of societal/cultural changes?
The Extreme History Project's new program addresses this need! A concept used by the ancient Greeks, Romans and Chinese that flourished in 15th - 16th century Europe, salons are informal social gatherings where people discuss art, literature, science and politics.
Join us at our Extreme History Project headquarters for an afternoon where we will focus on historic and contemporary concepts to inform, discuss and analyze issues that relate to today. We’ll look at topics that might go misinterpreted, are being misrepresented or overall, raise a lot of questions.
Join the discussion and intellectual exchange as we deep dive into those hard questions.
This Saturday, October 25th at 1pm during our next History Salon we will discuss The First Amendment with expert Victoria Lyons.
Victoria Lyons is both a historian and lawyer who brings history to life through impeccable research and storytelling. Her research examines the legal mores in the West at the turn of the 19th century and how they relate to our world today. Victoria is a co-curator of two current exhibits at The Extreme History Project, has extensive experience as a historic interpreter, and is the founder and author of highnoonhistory.com. She recently presented at the Montana Historical Society Conference and has written in various regional publications.
The goal of this event is to create a space for participants to feel comfortable to ask questions and contribute to the conversation. We ask you to be respectful and open-minded.
