About this Event

Check out this in-process performance-presentation featuring the History of The Beatbox House.

This collective of world-champion beatboxers includes Amit Bhowmick, Chris Celiz, Neil “NaPoM” Meadows, Gene Shinozaki, and Kenny Urban. Through education, performance, and collaboration, the collective is rebranding the art as a new form of music, pushing the boundaries of the possibilities of the human voice. They were recently featured in the New York Times and represented the U.S. State Department with a tour of Indonesia and Singapore through the storied American Music Abroad Program.

The Beatbox House is in residence at ArtYard in partnership with Works & Process LaunchPAD “Process as Destination” to develop this new work, which will premiere on April 8 at Works & Process at the Guggenheim. In addition to ArtYard, History of The Beatbox House has received Works & Process LaunchPAD residency support at Chautauqua Institution (2023) and Guild Hall William P Rayner Artist-in-Residence program (2023), as well as grant funding from New Music USA and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.
