Ready to get your hands dirty? Join us to explore active dig sites at Fort Monroe, uncover evidence, excavate artifacts and go behind the scenes at our Archaeology Lab.
Workshop 1: Archaeology At Fort Monroe
In this session we will decipher evidence to locate a real historic site, and learn about an archaeologist’s work from Fort Monroe’s Archaeologist Paul Presenza.
What We'll Do
- Meet an Archaeologist
- Examine primary sources from Fort Monroe’s history
- Engage in way finding and map reading
- Explore a real dig site at Fort Monroe
