About this Event

Come join us at our Heartland History Fair! Our goal is for students to connect to history, be creative, and have fun learning from each other! The history fair theme is “People Who Have Made a Difference in the World.” During the fair, students in grades 3-12 will have the chance to share presentations about a person who they believe has made a difference in the world. To prepare, they will first choose a historical figure related to the theme, then conduct primary and secondary source research. After completing their research students will develop a statement explaining why the person they chose is significant and decide how they would like to present their research.
Here are a few ideas to get started:
  • Visuals - presentation board, drawing, painting, sculpture
  • Drama - dress up as your historical figure and give a short monologue, write and perform a short skit (1-2 minutes)
  • Writing - write a poem, compose a song, write and illustrate a story

On the day of the History Fair students will be assigned a table to set up their presentations. There will be a scavenger hunt as attendees rotate through the exhibits, as well as time set aside for any dramatic performances. This event will be held outdoors in late fall; dress appropriately and be prepared for Ridgecrest weather! Please contact Kim Fielding or Marsha Sisco with any questions about how to prepare for the History Fair.

We encourage families to turn in a sample that is linked to the event that they attended during your next learning period. It helps to ensure that we can continue to provide these trips and their educational value.

Heartland field trips are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please indicate this when you register your student and let the field trip host know once you complete your registration.

**To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**

May I pay using my funds? This field trip is free but each student attending must have a ticket.

Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions? All ages are welcome. Only students in 3rd-12th grade will be presenters.

What are the check-in procedures? Check-in with Mrs. Fielding or Mrs. Sisco before setting up your display at 9:50.
