Richard Powers (US) is a full-time instructor in dance history and contemporary social dance forms at Stanford University Dance Division, Department of Theater and Performance Studies. His principal focus since 1975 has been social dance forms, from the Renaissance to today. Specializations include 19th century American and European social dance, dances of the Ragtime Era and Jazz Ages, and currently evolving vernacular dance forms.
We are excited to have not one but TWO workshops with him this coming Summer! Book early to reserve your spot!

Texas Tommy Workshop followed by Social Dance
6.45-7.45pm Workshop: We’ll kick off the soiree with the original Texas Tommy dance, a hugely popular dance from circa 1915. Read all about the Texas Tommy in Simon's Swing Notes article here
7.45-10pm Social dance: Following the class, we’ll swing into a DJ extravaganza, spinning tunes from the vivacious era of Ragtime right through to the rebellious Rock 'n' Roll. With DJs Simon and Richard.
