Yes, Preservation Matters ... and it depends on people like you who value local history and understand the role of historic preservation in the stewardship of history. That's why you're invited to Historic Tacoma's 2024 Annual Meeting, on Sunday, November 13th at 2:00pm, to be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, a recent addition to the city's Local Historic Register.
The Annual Meeting will include a special presentation by Melissa McGinnis, who co-authored "Tacoma's Parks" and "Tacoma's Point Defiance Park." She will discuss the broad history of Tacoma's public spaces, including nearby Wright Park. (Copies of the books are available for purchase from the Tacoma Historical Society and other local book retailers.) There will also be brief remarks from the Tacoma Tree Foundation concerning the status of our city's urban forests.
Finally, Board members will review Historic Tacoma's accomplishments over the last few years, the current state of historic preservation efforts in Tacoma, and plans for the future.
