Our visit to a fun, yet educational, 'Not Back to School' field trip to historic schoolhouse is in the works 🏫

DETAILS:
Here are the 2 options:
A Living History Experience for students in grades 3 and 4.
Duration: 1 1/2 - 2 hours
Cost:$3.00 per student (to cover the cost of materials)
The schoolmarm will accompany the students into the schoolhouse where they will go back to the year 1857 and experience what school was like at that time. The students will participate in opening exercises, they will be read the rules of the classroom and then work on reading, arithmetic, history, geography, and penmanship. After completing their lessons in their copybook, they will then go out for recess where they will be directed on how to play with 19th century toys. A class picture will be taken and then the students will go back (this time 2025) into the schoolhouse and learn about the history of ther building, our guides will answer any questions that the students may have.
Prior to our visit, they'll send us links for two recommended YouTube videos to watch. It's optional to view, but will give an idea of what to expect.
OPTION 2:
Duration: 30 - 45 minutes
Cost: Donation-based. This is an outreach program, all proceeds benefit the Medford Historical Society.
For students Grades 3-8 to take a tour ofr the schoolhouse. They will be met by a docent who will give them a half hour to 45-minute tour of the building.

The plan is for those participating in option 2 to tour the schoolhouse after the students attending option 1 finish 'class'. At this transitional point, we will take a group 'class' photo with the schoolhouse in the background. A class photo is a tradition of those who visit. They have an entire photo album and also a class photo on display from when the schoolhouse was operational.
Below is a timeline of the program:

10:00 - Meet the schoolmarm at the flagpole in front of the schoolhouse.
10:10 -11:10 - Lessons in Reading, Arithmetic, Geography and Penmanship in the schoolhouse.
11:15-11:30 – Recess – Hoops, Graces etc.
11:30 – 12:00 - Docent will give a history of the schoolhouse. (At this time, students and parents participating in Option 2 of the program can join from 12:00-12:30)
