We are thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the Hispanas Unidas 40th Anniversary Reunion & Conference: Raising Our Voices. This milestone event will take place on September 13th-14th, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, and we would be honored to have you join us.
This isn’t just any conference—it’s a celebration! We’ll be honoring the trailblazing mujeres who organized the very first Hispanas Unidas conference 40 years ago. And let’s not forget, we’re also here to uplift the future generations who will continue to amplify our voices for years to come!
The excitement kicks off on Friday afternoon, September 13th, with registration and a showcase of incredible work by local Latina authors. The evening begins with a powerful opening ceremony, where we will pay tribute to the pioneering women who made the first Hispanas Unidas Conference possible. Then, we’ll dive into an inspiring reception featuring music, works by students from the Young Women’s Leadership Academy and Nuestra Gente: A Tribute to Hispanic Innovators and Dreamers—a special art exhibition by the talented Bernadette Peña that celebrates the rich history and contributions of the Latino/a/x community through stunning visual storytelling.
Saturday, September 14th, is packed with energy! We’ll start the day with an empowering plenary session featuring an incredible lineup of speakers: Blandina "Bambi" Cardenas Flores, Ph.D., Monica Cruz, Ph.D., Hon. Maria Antonietta Berriozabal, and Hon. Rosie Castro. These phenomenal women will set the tone for the day, sharing their insights, experiences, and wisdom. Afterward, dive into a full slate of conference sessions that will spark your curiosity, ignite your passions, and challenge your thinking. Need a moment to recharge? We’ve got you covered with self-care opportunities sprinkled throughout the day. And to cap it all off, we’ll come together for a closing celebration that pays musical homage to the one and only Selena—because what’s a celebration without a little bit of magic?
We are committed to making this event accessible to everyone. The registration fee is just $40, with a reduced rate of $20 for seniors and students. Scholarships are also available for those in need.
