As surely as the kneebone is connected to the thighbone, the hips are connected to the hamstrings. Work on hips effects the hamstrings, and work on the hamstrings effects the hips. In yoga the hamstrings are the muscle group which get the most attention, yet it is the hips which are often the slowest area to open up. So the question is, how can we turn our buds of steel into a flowering lotus?
Greg’s hip method is a careful, skilful and sustained practice. If we approach our hips carelessly in practice - we might invite injury later on. But when we work into our hips intelligently we can find ourselves skipping home after practice!
In this workshop we will start slowly, and build up the work through a progressive practice.
We'll focus on gently releasing those more resistant and under-worked corners of the hip-hamstring area. From here we'll explore lengthening, strengthening and opening the hamstrings and the hip flexors as we lubricate the hip joints.
Hips should flex, extend and rotate, so expect lots of variety and a few surprises!
