The live show aims to bring together those from all angles of the Scottish Hip-hop scene. Featuring some of Scotland's brightest up-and-coming hip-hop-influenced artists, the pilot event aims to spotlight under-represented groups and subgenres in the hip-hop community.
Our Background
Hip Hop Scotland was set up to put the spotlight on Scottish hip hop artists, edited by Sanjeev Mann (formerly Jonathan Rimmer).
The initial plan was to set up a more wide-ranging collaborative resource. That remains a goal for down the line, but for now, we’re focusing on interviews, reviews and coverage of live events in Scottish hip hop.
The site follows on from Scotland Stand Up, a multimedia channel/blog established in 2009 by Steven ‘Scuba’ Duncan. We ran podcasts, interviewed artists, shot videos, wrote reviews and covered gigs and battle events over the course of nine years, all with the goal of promoting the Scottish hip hop scene.
We currently run a podcast, reviews, and academic articles and currently looking for contributors.
