About this Event
Join Bay Area photographer & author Dave Shlachter for an evening at Manny’s as he shares the recently-published coffee table book Hinenu: Israel at Ten Million — a deeply human portrait of contemporary Israeli society. Through 100 striking photographic portraits and candid first-person narratives, Hinenu reveals the diversity, resilience, humor, and lived complexity behind the headlines, right as Israel hits a population of ten million.
Learn how this project — captured entirely during war in a time of historical transformation and deep uncertainty — elevates the personal voices often left out of the global conversation. Intentionally apolitical, Hinenu (Hebrew for Here We Are) is an act of listening: a human portrait of a society still becoming itself, told in its own voices.By attending this event, you will be among the first to own the limited first edition of this book!
