HILLOWEEN FAQs

What is Hilloween? It's a trick or treating party for kids and adults, in and around Eastern Market’s North Hall. This is an outdoor event. Stop by the welcome booth at 7th St. SE & C St. SE for your free swag trick or treat bags (sponsored by Northeast Stars Montessori) while supplies last!

Is it ON Halloween? No, Hill-O-Ween is this Friday, Oct 30th, 2026 at 4pm. Stop by before your trick or treating starts!

Is there Entertainment? YES. Enjoy a halloween puppet show from the Blue Sky Puppet Theater, "The Phantoms of the Octave," and a dance a long by Studio One Dance. The stage will be located in the middle of 7th St.

What about Activities? There will be a 360 photo booth , social sharing photo booth, three face painters (one located on each end of 7th street, and moon bounce park (located inside the North Hall), games, and movement spaces for children.

**Balloons are strictly prohibited inside of the Eastern Market North Hall. Please refrain from bringing your balloons from outside.

Are there bathrooms onsite? Bathrooms are located inside the North Hall Building at Eastern Market.

What about Safety and Security? MPD will have a team of police officers blocking the roads and monitoring the event beginning at 11 AM. All roads and alleys leading to 7th st will be monitored by a MPD police officer. In regards to health and safety, there is an Urgent care on 7th street for emergencies.

Costumes? Come in costume (preferably) or not. But yes, come in costume -- it's so much more fun that way!

What are the ages? Hilloween is for everyone. Not scary, unless you suffer from enochlophobia.

How much is this free event? Free.

Are the face painting and photo booths free? For you, yes. This year, face painting is sponsored by Barley and Barley Real Estate, Dreams Abroad, and National Children's Theater. Photo Booths are sponsored by The Residences at Eastern Market and Artisanal Builders. The moon bounce park is sponsored by Grace Way Baptist Church. Don't forget to visit and thank these organizations!

Is there food? Snacks and drinks here and there -- some free, some to support a school or org. There are several restaurants along 7th st for your family to visit afterwards. Tunnicliff's Tavern is one of our supporters and will provide grilled dogs and burgers.

Is there parking? Not any more or less than there is during a big event at Eastern Market.

Speaking of cars…7th St between North Carolina Ave SE and C St. SE will be closed for trick or treaters. We suggest allowing some extra time to find parking.

Can you come really early? No one can stop you from enjoying the 200 block of 7th St SE, but activities and performances begin at 4:00pm

It's on what day? This Friday, Oct. 30th ... 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
