About The Artist
My paintings are about a sense of place and are a reflection of places I have visited and often think about. I walk in the countryside and am inspired by wild meadows, woodlands and field patterns I am interested in light and colour and try to incorporate both in my work. I work mostly in oil and cold wax. My process involves building up and scraping back layers of paint, adding and deconstructing, looking at positive and negative space and the interplay of colours placed together. Each painting has many layers, making the surface subtle and intriguing.
I live and work in Liverpool, I completed my degree at Central School of Art and Design and went on to work as a freelance textile designer for Liberty and Sanderson’s before beginning a thirty year teaching career, teaching Fine Art in schools and Further Education. In 2016, I decided to leave teaching to concentrate on my own work.
I exhibit throughout the country and my paintings are in private collections across the world. My tree paintings are featured in two books, The Liverpool Art Book and Women – Inspiring Quotes & Artistic Responses. In August 2023 I was awarded ‘The People’s Choice’ prize at the LIverpool Art Fair. Most years I visit County Mayo, Ireland, to do a week as ‘artist in residence’. Here I note the field patterns and man made boundaries and this has inspired much of my latest abstract work.
About Liverpool Art Fair
Liverpool Art Fair is back at the Royal Liver Building this summer, showcasing a record 245 local artists across six weeks of free entry, creative workshops, and the chance to own an original piece of art for as little as £25.
Now in its 12th year, the fair runs from 12th June to 26th July 2026, open seven days a week, 12–5pm, with free entry throughout. Since launching at Camp and Furnace in 2012, Liverpool Art Fair has welcomed almost 70,000 art lovers and showcased the work of over 2,700 artists, facts that reflect the enduring appetite for affordable, accessible art in the region.
This year’s fair brings together the largest group of exhibiting artists in the event’s history, selected from an open call open to artists living within a 35-mile radius of Liverpool. With works starting at just £25 and a substantial section dedicated to pieces under £250, the fair continues to make original art genuinely accessible to everyone, from first-time buyers to seasoned collectors.
