The Trio is one of Hilario’s most expressive musical formations; this musical format offers a
glimpse of future directions for Cuban-inflected music. One of his albums, “New Danzon,” won
the Juno Award for Best Jazz Album of the Year 2005, and “Motion,” the second album of the
Trio, was Juno-nominated, and # 1 Best Latin Jazz Recording by Latin Jazz Network.
Trio journeys through various music styles, from Afro-Cuban chants to Danzon, Bolero, Cha-
Cha-Cha, and more; it is a Latin jazz show that incorporates Afro-Cuban music and elements of
Modern Jazz. In addition, the Trio performs original compositions and American standards.
