Join us for an informative evening all about the legendary Trans-Catalina Trail (TCT) - a challenging yet breathtaking 38.5-mile trek spanning the length of Catalina Island, complete with sweeping ocean views, remote campsites, rugged climbs, bison sightings, and unforgettable sunsets over the Pacific.
Presented by: Wilderness Travel Course (WTC) Instructors Krista Muscarella & Christie Bergles
Whether the TCT has been sitting on your adventure bucket list for years or you’re just beginning to explore the idea, this Backcountry Clinic will help you better understand what it takes to successfully plan and complete this unique island thru-hike.
Topics include:
- Trail overview and elevation breakdown
- Ferry logistics and campsite reservations
- Packing tips and gear recommendations for Catalina’s terrain and climate
- Water availability and resupply strategies
- Suggested itineraries - from fastpacks to more relaxed scenic treks
- Weather, wildlife, and island-specific trail challenges
- Lessons learned and practical advice from firsthand trail experience
From Two Harbors to Parsons Landing and beyond, attendees will gain valuable insight, planning tips, and real-world perspective from experienced backpackers who’ve spent boots on the ground exploring Catalina Island.
Bring your questions and get ready to talk all things TCT!
You’ll also learn more about the Sierra Club’s Wilderness Travel Course (WTC) - a 10-week immersive program combining classroom learning and hands-on outdoor experiences designed to teach backpacking, navigation, wilderness safety, and outdoor leadership skills.
