*Why do we hike for 3 days?
Studies show that the "3- Day Effect" refers to the mental and emotional benefits people experience after spending three consecutive days in nature or engaging in outdoor adventures. Research indicates that after this period, individuals exhibit reduced stress, improved focus, enhanced creativity, and greater emotional well-being. You will be away from excess blue screen light too which will help reset your cortisol and melotonin levels.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival
Info: Arrival and airport transfer to Hotel. Throughout the trip we will have our own private driver. We enjoy a stop on the way to admire Rocca Calascio - the highest fortress in the Apennines. Group dinner, relax and prep for Hiking. (Extra luggage can be left at hotel)

Day 2 Hike
Info: Santo Stefano - Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi. . Approx 18 km | 1300m elevation gain. Group dinner in the mountain hut, relax and prepare for next day's hike - summit day!

Day 3 Hike
Info: Rifugio Duca, round trip. Approx 10 km | 500m elevation gain .Summit Gran Corno at 2912m! Group dinner in the mountain hut, relax and prep for final day's hiking.

Day 4 Hike
Info: Rifugio Duca - Walk to campo Imperatore. Meet driver → short transfer to Fonte Vetica for Monte Camicia and Monte Tremoggia loop tour. Hike approx 10km | 900m elevation gain. End at the famous Ristoro Mucciante for a traditional snack of Arrosticini*. Transfer to 4 star Hotel L’Aquila via first Hotel to collect luggage. Easy group dinner of Pizza. *Arrosticini are traditional Italian skewers from the Abruzzo region, made from small, cubed lamb.

Day 5 Explore. Restore. Celebrate.
Info: Enjoy a local experience, restorative outdoor yoga,
afternoon sauna and wellness experience, ending beautifully with a 3 course group celebration dinner in our 4 star hotel. Pack and relax ready for flight next day.

Info: Airport transfer will depart at 10:00 from Hotel L'Aquila back to Rome Ciampino.
