Hike Avon to Collinsville Sept 6th!
Start: Arrive at 8:45 at the Christ community church located at 7 South Street Collinsville on September 6th. We will be leaving cars there and carpooling to the parking lot located at Countryside Park at 335 Huckleberry Hill Road. Please arrive 15 minutes early, as the carpool will leave promptly at 9:00 AM.
Details: A 3.55-mile hike on relatively easy terrain. We will begin by walking around the upper pond at Countryside Park, and then heading west on the yellow trail, through Buckingham Recreation area and down to the Farmington River. We will walk along trails from the Buckingham property to Collinsville. We will do a short road walk back to cars at trails end.
We will maintain a pace of 2 to 2.5 miles per hour, so the event will last under 2 hours.
Notes: We recommend wearing hiking boots and using hiking poles as we will be crossing a couple of small streams and rocky areas. Bring water, and we suggest using bug spray, as we are in a wetland area with mosquitoes and ticks.
There also may be some areas of high grass if the trail has recently been cleared.
