Join the JSU Field School the 1st Friday and 3rd Saturday of each month for a guided hike. We’ll discuss the plants, animals, and natural history of the area as we hike the trails.Please join us on a guided 4-mile loop on the YCC Trail. This trail follows along select roads in the Wildlife Management Area of the Little River National Preserve. This is a moderate to difficult level hike with varying and uneven terrain. This is one of our longest hikes and may be challenging for children and dogs.
Please bring plenty of water and/or sports drink, snacks, hiking poles/staff (optional), sturdy shoes (open toe shoes are not recommended). Please be sure to dress appropriately according to seasonal temperatures/weather.
Weather Notice: As with all outdoor programs, hikes may be canceled due to rain, storms, or unsafe trail conditions. If weather is questionable, please check with the Canyon Center before attending.
Meeting Location: Meet at the Little River Canyon Center, Fort Payne, Alabama (AL Hwy 35). Please arrive by 10:00 a.m. CT, and we will caravan to the trail head.
