You may also be asking, what the hell is a hike and scream?!
A hike and scream is a somatic practice to release your anger is a healthy way around a supportive community.
"Somatic" refers to anything related to the body, particularly the felt experience within the body. It encompasses physical sensations, emotions, and movements, emphasizing the body's role in understanding and processing information
In our modern-day society, we often are unable to express our anger in healthy ways. We are always told to “keep calm and carry on”, but did you know that pent-up anger can lead to emotional and physical dis-ease?
Physically, repressed anger can show up as; sleep disturbances, a weakened immune system, or digestive disorders. Emotionally, repressed anger can show up as; anxiety/depression, emotional exhaustion, cognitive dysfunction, and can even affect our personal relationships!
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Liver is in charge of anger. When the liver qi is in balance, we have the ability to show compassion, and when it is out of balance, it can show up as anger. One way to balance this liver qi, is to release this anger.
The concept of a Hike & Scream was not my own. The idea was gifted to me by my dear school friend, who due to health conditions, has no longer been able to host these events.
As a homage to her, I asked her if I could carry on this legacy in her name to others who need community and release.
With tears of joy in her eyes, she gave me her blessing to continue on with this beautiful event.
During this event, we will hike for about 30 minutes to the top of a hillside. From the top of this hillside, there is a beautiful distant ocean view. Once at the top, we will have 15-20 minutes to scream your guts out. You can scream words, sounds, cry, laugh or even sit in silence. After, we will hike back down and have the option to have lunch at one of the local restaurants in the neighborhood.

We will meet in the eden park parking lot. We will be hiking the Whiptail Trail.
WHEN:
Sunday, May 5th, 2024
Meet at 11am. We will begin the hike at 11:15am after a short introduction & a short grounding meditation.
WHAT TO BRING:
Water, good hiking shoes.
Optional: hat, sunglasses, sweater. Please dress according to the weather.
