Showcase event of The University of Manchester High Voltage Laboratory and tour of research facilities
About this Event

The National Grid High Voltage Laboratory at The University of Manchester has recently been relocated to the newly developed Manchester Engineering Campus. The laboratory has gone through a major upgrade in research facilities including newly installed 800 kV AC generator, 600 kV DC generator and state-of-the-art material characterisation equipment.

The high voltage research group is hosting an open day event on 14th September, this will be an opportunity to visit the high voltage laboratory and to meet other colleagues from industry and universities to discuss potential collaboration.

Morning Session from 9:30 - 12:00 noon

10:30 High Voltage Research at Manchester

10:45 Tea/Coffee Break

11:00 HV, MV, Dielectric Lab tour


Afternoon Session from 12:00 - 16:30

Afternoon Option A (unlimited numbers)

13:00 Visit the Henry Royce Institute and the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC)

15:00 Postgraduate Poster Session (Tea/Coffee/Networking)

16:30 End of event


Afternoon Option B (limited numbers)

12:30 Coach departure from Manchester

13:30 Visit the National Grid Deeside Centre for Innovation

15:30 Bus departure at Deeside
