Three performers share powerful works of sight, sound, and movement.About this Event
This month's High Voltage features three artists who push sound and movement to strange, unexpected, and wondrous new places. With performances by:
H/OURS
h/ours is an experimental and ambient sound project directly tunneling haunted and cinematic melodies into your central nervous system— combining two unique artists: one who creates music and Ice in a style entitled strange tundra, and the other who creates using the ripping pedal-heavy sounds of the electric violin. h/ours is made up of ice composer Xxhe on vocals on ice and synthesizer and mot.physics on violin/guitar and synthesizer textures/drums.
ROSHANE
Roshane is a Los Angeles based electronic artist with a lust for disco, funk, and jazz stylings over a house groove. While touring as a hired gun for multiple national acts, he honed in on his love for electronic music and developed a style of off-the-cuff live looping. His sets are an ever-flowing journey of improvised harmony and melody performed on an array of synthesizers and drum machines.
ARIANA CHAVEZ
Choreographer Ariana Chavez says of her new piece, "When I first gathered these dancers together I had a very specific idea of what I wanted to make. By questioning the dancers and understanding this sort of loss we were all experiencing, I was challenged to let my first impulse go and the dance quickly transformed into the things we have lost. It was through this research a piece that needed to express deceit in relationships, a tainted past, and progressing towards wisdom and a new future in the characters were created." Dancers: Sophia Fan Lin, Ari Pulido, Maze Felix.
