About this Event
Do you have a passion for civil rights and want to make a little spending money on the side? Become a Fair Housing Tester with the High Plains Fair Housing Center!
Uncovering and stopping illegal acts of housing discrimination requires testing, which is an investigative tool used to gather evidence. “Testers" pose as prospective renters or buyers of real estate for the purpose of gathering evidence that may reveal acts of discrimination. Through this process, we can determine where illegal acts of housing discrimination are occuring in our communities.
Testing is a low commitment side gig, requiring only a few hours of your time a month with flexible scheduling and testers are paid per assignment. Payment amount ranges from $25 - $100+, depending on the complexity of the test and the time spent. Transportation can be arranged for testing assignments.
At our event, you can sign up to become a tester and get trained that very same day, and our fair housing specialists will help you get started on the paperwork required. We will also pay to have you fingerprinted (as required by state law). Once you've been trained, fingerprinted, and the necessary paperwork is completed, you will be ready to get started as a tester.
A complimentary dinner from Tee's Tacos will be provided to all attendees! Please reach out to us if you require dietary accomodations.
We are looking for prospective testers of all ages (over 18), backgrounds, genders and abilities. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing a meal with you.
