Keep some energy for your Mayday hangover, because on May 2nd, the HIFI/LOFI crew returns to the raw, intimate booths of Crack Bellmer to celebrate a major milestone: our 20th release. To mark the occasion, we’ve got growing cosmic legends Beyond The Struttosphere flying in from the UK, joined by Indie Dance queen Bonnie Spacey, as well as master of cosmic groove & label head-honcho Franz Matthews, all reunited to bring you a night of hypnotic grooves, cosmic arpeggios, and driving acid-tingled disco aimed to turn Crack Bellmer into a spaceship.

BEYOND THE STRUTTOSPHERE

Beyond The Struttopshere is a collaboration between two UK/US-based DJ-producers blending dark disco with chugging basslines, reverbed guitar riffs, syncopated arpeggiators, cosmic synths and psychedelic 303 sequences. Their debut EP ‘New Frontier’ [Discolypso, 2020] found much acclaim among Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s A Love From Outer Space online fraternity, also appearing on Juan Mclean’s (DFA Records) contribution to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space mix series. This propelled the duo onwards with further releases on Mélopée Records, Discolypso, In Dark We Trust, Emerald & Doreen and Roam Recordings, three of which reached top chart positions on Beatport and Juno Download. With DJ sets at Glastonbury’s Rabbit Hole (UK), Secret Garden Party (UK), Noisily Festival (UK), Village Underground (London), Halo Club (Cape Town), Mimi Disco (Mexico City), Format Festival (USA), KitKat Club (Berlin), among many others, their music is now making sonic reverberations around the globe, hitting the dancefloors of Burning Man, ADE, Fusion Festival and Sisyphos Berlin, and backed by remixes from heavyweights of the scene including Mufti, Julian Sanza, James Rod, Shubostar, Badknife, Rigopolar and Rebolledo.

BONNIE SPACEY

Bonnie Spacey is a French DJ and producer based in Berlin, deeply connected to electronic music from an early age. After learning piano and guitar as a child, her path naturally led to the decks, where she channels her energy and hypersensitivity into powerful, emotional sets. Her sound is one characterised by unique contrasts and combinations with a root interest in organic instrumentation and a keen interest in the deeper shades of Disco, House, Techno and Electroclash being melded effectively in her productions and DJ sets. 

Dancefloor-oriented and emotionally driven, her sets are designed to connect, move, and energize. As a dedicated producer, she works relentlessly in the studio, crafting tracks that have found a home on respected labels like Exploited, Jeahmon!, Phisica, and Lumière Noire.

In 2019, she founded Critical Monday, where she dropped the single « Don’t » which immediately garnered success, supported by Dixon and Jennifer Cardini. Dedicated to the electrifying fusion of techno and rock, Critical Monday is definitevely dedicated to club music, as evident in the releases by Curses, Rafael Cerato, Shubostar, Tony Y Not, Günce Aci, and Mala Ika.

Based in Berlin, the versatile producer, DJ and live act Franz Matthews is known for crafting groove-heavy Indie Dance, funk-infused House, and dreamy club psychedelia with emotional depth. Built for cosmic dancefloors and mental travelers of the present moment, his sound blends worlds together, while always exploring new sonic territories, and always adding something meaningful to the experience. 

Whether through his own HIFI/LOFI Records imprint or releases on Eskimo Recordings, Feines Tier, AEON, ROAM, Heimlich… Franz’s productions consistently weave narrative, nostalgia, and groove. His acclaimed remix for Aisha Badru has amassed over 5 million streams on Spotify, while collaborating and getting remixed by the likes of Aera, Chaim, Michael Mayer, The Organism, and Local Suicide have reinforced his position as a genre-blurring tastemaker.

From Berlin institutions like Sisyphos and Kater Blau to festivals such as Château Perché, Reeperbahn, and tours across Europe, the US, and Mexico, Franz’s heady and danceful magic continues to turn dancefloors into portals — always with the heart, always bringing the heat.
