About this Event
On this history-flavoured walk we will explore some glorious gardens that have transformed ruined and Blitzed churchyards and admire the wisteria display and panoramic views offered by the City’s newest roof garden.
You will hear about the budding monk-gardeners of medieval monasteries, 'meet' diarist-philanderer Samuel Pepys in the garden that commemorates him, and see modern planting and landscaping in the heart of the City 'Cluster'. We'll visit the Gilt of Cain slavery memorial, and learn that London is officially a 'forest'!
Your friendly City of London qualified guide is Alison Turner, who also produced the BBC horticultural history series Monty Don’s Italian Gardens.
Walks last around 90 minutes and take place come rain or shine! We will end the walk in a historic pub for those who fancy a rewarding pint or lunch and chat with fellow walkers.
