Hidden Herd Presents is Brighton’s new music discovery night, spotlighting the most exciting emerging artists, ones-to-watch and hidden gems. This time, come to The Hope & Ruin for Sandhouse, BIGHEAD, Thimble and crowd.
Sandhouse
South London-based duo Sandhouse, consisting of Anna Sutherland (vocals) and Casper Holloway (guitar), have been steadily capturing attention with their captivating blend of 60s psychedelia, 90s alternative rock, trip hop and contemporary electronic influences. Their atmospheric, emotionally charged soundscapes have drawn comparisons to an array of icons, including Beach House, Massive Attack, Wolf Alice and Morcheeba. Songs from their debut EP have amassed millions of streams and earned support from BBC Music Introducing and The Line of Best Fit, alongside features on Spotify editorial playlists such as ‘Best New Indie’ and ‘Hot New Bands’. They recently kicked off 2026 with a feature on Dork’s Hype List, and are currently working on their sophomore EP, led by the brilliant new single ‘Snapdragon’. Live, Sandhouse have toured with Bleach Lab and Panic Shack, shared stages with Dove Ellis and Grandmas House, and performed at Abbie McCarthy’s Good Karma Club. They also recently appeared at Supersonic’s Block Party Festival in Paris.

BIGHEAD
Brighton-based alt-rock outfit BIGHEAD (formerly known as Bighead Tea Drinkers) are part of a new wave of guitar bands, blending influences from Britpop to Deftones to create their own bristling, 90s-influenced strain of indie pop. Championed by CLASH Magazine and John Kennedy on Radio X, the band have amassed hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify with their raw, hook-driven sound. Renowned for their high-energy live shows, BIGHEAD have played standout events including The Beach House Sessions and the inaugural BHS Fest, shared stages with King No-One, Balancing Act and Die Twice, and headlined packed-out rooms at venues such as The Sebright Arms and Green Door Store. This summer, they’ll appear at Wilderness Festival, cementing their status as one of Brighton’s most exciting emerging guitar acts.

Thimble
Thimble are a genre-bending Brighton-based five-piece who defy creative boundaries, blending a luscious, breathtaking mix of Western classical, jazzy psychedelia and Eastern folk. Despite their status as newcomers - having only played their first-ever show in February and with no music online - Thimble are already making a strong impression and rapidly gaining attention. They sold out their debut headline shows at The Rose Hill and The Folklore Rooms, as well as appearing at this year’s Homegrown Festival. Fresh from a string of Alt Alt Escape shows, Thimble are also set to feature on an upcoming lineup as part of The Hope & Ruin’s Ones To Watch series, alongside making their London debut at The Ivy House in late May.

crowd are a Brighton-based alternative band making introspective, slow-burning post-rock that balances atmospheric textures with a quietly captivating sense of space. After releasing their floaty, slow-building debut single ‘Ceiling II’ last year, recorded with Spencer Withey (Ladylike) and released via Permalink Records (VCSB and more), the four-piece have established themselves as a new favourite among Brighton’s thriving alternative scene. Live, they’ve appeared at Homegrown Festival and recently played The Hope & Ruin’s “Ones to Watch” showcase for the second time. They’ve also shared stages with the likes of Shearling and Outlander, alongside fast-rising Brighton favourites including Glasshouse Red Spider Mite, Le Lamb, magda(1999), Thimble, Grimrite and Batmilk.
