Hic Sunt Monstra (Here Be Monsters) Artist Talk
About this Event
Hic Sunt Monstra (Here Be Monsters) is an exhibition delving into one’s personal journey of navigating the world using cartography and allegory. In Madrid's mythmaking and worldbuildng process they are interested in the path of the seeker, the one who journeys on the inward quest. Through exploring the personal transformations that are informed by universal archetypes and myth traditions.
The exhibition’s narrative is rooted in an imagined mythology filled with dream-like creatures in a surreal world. The central focus of the exhibition are the chimeric creatures that serve as metaphors for emotional or psychological obstacles we may encounter on life’s path. By confronting and overcoming these challenges we gain valuable insight on the quest of self-actualization.
