ROOTED RUNWAY marks the official opening of Halifax Fashion Week 2026 and serves as a powerful celebration of heritage, community, and creative expression.
This year’s theme, ROOTED, recognizes the importance of remaining grounded in our history, culture, and humanity while embracing the innovation and technology shaping the future of fashion. Through design, storytelling, and artistic expression, the showcase explores the intersection of tradition and transformation.
The evening highlights four communities whose contributions continue to influence and strengthen Nova Scotia’s cultural identity:
• Indigenous Community• African Nova Scotian Community• Scottish Community• Immigrant Community
Featured designers will present collections inspired by their heritage, experiences, and cultural roots, creating a runway experience that celebrates every fibre of who we are and the diverse stories that connect us.
Taking place in the heart of Halifax on Spring Garden Road, ROOTED RUNWAY is more than a fashion show, it’s a celebration of the people, cultures, and pioneers who laid the foundation upon which our fashion industry continues to grow.
