Calling all Market families! We're excited to announce our fourth HFM Kids Club event details for August 23rd. Come meet William from Summit Station Dairy who will be joining us for some dairy themed fun.In 1947, Joe Loewith purchased 100 acres in Copetown, Ontario. The location known as ‘Summit’ was the highest point along the railway line between the cities of Brantford and Hamilton. Joe milked 15 Holstein cows and ran the farm with the help of his wife Minna and one farm hand. Ben Loewith now oversees the farm operation, his wife Jen has joined the business as General Manager of Summit Station Dairy, and their son William (Will) is the fourth generation of the family to be working at the farm. They currently milk 450 Holstein cows – all descended from the original 15 cows that started it all.
Will is a familiar face around the Hamilton Farmers' Market; he's been hard at work on Saturdays at the Summit Station Dairy table. On July 23rd he'll be talking about what it's like to be a fourth-generation dairy farmer, have some samples to share, and maybe even have some friends with him.
