Heroes of the Kingdom / Deco Ruins / Grim the Green @ The Conservatory

Heroes of the Kingdom have been ruling in the shadows for nearly two decades and the band returns to Alton for the first time in several years. Featuring members of notable locals Ring, Cicada; Back of Dave; Sisser; Astral Moth, Perfect Weather For Humans and more, you'll not want to miss an increasingly rare live set of their herky jerky, sometimes twangy, heavy, dissonant indie rock. Think Superchunk meets Led Zeppelin with a dash of Soundgarden. https://heroesofthekingdom.bandcamp.com/album/hotk
Deco Ruins is a riffy, groovy, sometimes mathy art rock band consisting of both scene vets and fresh faces. Having missed playing loud weirdo guitar rock for several years, Drew Mader (CCFG; The Midwestern; Ring, Cicada; Your Dukes) began developing ideas from the bass guitar in 2021 with a new direction in mind. Rotating through various collaborators, by 2024 he welcomed former Ring, Cicada bandmate Aaron Zeveski on drums, reuniting the “History’s End” era rhythm section, along with lifelong best friend Ben Cowan’s fresh perspective of the electric guitar. The trio developed a set of creative instrumentals but felt there was more in the compositions to be discovered. Spring of 2026 brought inventive vocalist/guitarist Jason Fishburn into the fold and the band MIGHT almost be ready for this, their debut live show. FFO Mahavishnu Orchestra, White Denim, King Crimson, King Gizzard, The Mars Volta, Shiner, Tortoise etc
Grim the Green is a singer-songwriter who invokes mysticism and musical magic to concoct contemplative tunes that speak to the spirit above all else. “I write music for the beasts of the wood and mountains,” says Grim, who identifies as a wizard bard. He’s a highly prolific artist who has released 19 songs since his debut album dropped on Halloween 2025. The perfect vibe to kick off this lineup, RIYL Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Seal...yeah, that Seal. https://open.spotify.com/artist/1MhFmlDLpBPyOxomXTotf9?si=TyzyiheUSjCdnSxq-j0FiA
21+ only. Bar opens at 6:00, $10 cover starts at 7:00 with vibey vinyl for your freaky fall feels spun by Jeff Fields and Steve Ricks, live music starts around 8:00.
