Hi Everyone
For all our students that have received their Personal Growth/Grading forms, we are excited to announce we are now starting our countdown to our First Hero Portsmouth & Southampton Grading in November.
This is such an exciting time to see your children be rewarded for all their hard work and focus with the goal to earning their next belt and taking a step closer to their black belt.
Grading’s are so important and vital in your children’s progress and development. Years of experience within martial arts as a student and instructor has shown that grading teaches children delayed gratification, the benefits of hard work, determination and grit. The life skills that come with Martial Arts training takes time and it is ours, and your responsibility to ensure good attendance.
It will take the average student 3.5 to 4 years to achieve black belt. A black belt is much more than just a piece of material. It represents a goal achieved by only 1 in 1000 students. It represents personal success, leadership and humility, positive attitude and the value of commitment. These skills cannot be brought or taught in a short time.
Our grading day is a celebration of the amazing hard work, focus and dedication that your children have shown in class, at home and school to prove they have shown a black belt attitude and deserve to their new belts.
Grading Details
Date: Sunday 2nd November 2025
Venue: Trafalgar School, London Rd, Hilsea,PO2 9RJ
Times:
· Mini Heroes– All Belts – 2.30pm to 3.15pm
· Junior/Adult –All Belts – 3.30pm to 4.30pm
Personal Growth Forms
Personal Growth Forms represent the Life Skill learned for that term and are a compulsory part of a student’s grading progress. It allows parents and to take advantage of this program, as it teaches children the importance of committing to being an example setter outside their martial arts class and makes them accountable for their actions. If you have not received a grading sheet please speak to you instructor asap.
We ask that all grading sheets are returned to us signed and completed prior to grading day.
Cost
Grading fees are $45 for single students, $65 for 2 students and $85 for 3 students.
Uniform
All students must wear their full white or black Hero Gi at grading. If your child has a Hero T-shirt, these can be worn under their Gi
