Early in 2024 Selly Manor Museum commissioned four young, local, artists of Black Heritage to create art depicting Black Tudors. In this heritage talk, one of the artists, Annie Pearson, will discuss her work ‘Cattelena’. Cattelena was an independent, single Black woman, who lived in a small English village during the Tudor era. Annie will share her artistic process and motivation in creating the piece.
Annie is a rising talent on the art scene in Birmingham. A poet, artist and all-round creative, she uses paint, pastel, print, pens and pencils to produce pictures for personal pleasure and professional endeavour. Her poetry has featured in magazines, poetry competitions and her own selection of songs and raps. Her proudest moment as an artist/Brummie was working with UB40 to promote their most recent album through art.
To make the event accessible tickets are priced at only £5 and include a hot drink. Please call Selly Manor on 0121 472 0199 to book tickets.
This event is part of Black History Month celebrations. For more information about events taking place throughout the month visit the Blackstory Partnership website.
