About this Event
Join architecture critic Alex Bozikovic for a fascinating full-day bus tour across Toronto's evolving cityscape! In celebration of our 50th Annual Heritage Toronto Awards, visit past winners and see how historic landmarks have been adapted, reused, and reimagined for today. From the adaptive reuse of Waterworks Food Hall to the innovative conservation of St. Lawrence Market North, discover how approaches to heritage conservation has shifted over time—and how old and new architecture continue to shape Toronto's identity.
Highlights of the tour include:
- The Daniels Building, a 1874 Gothic Revival building which served as a military barracks, a military hospital, and a laboratory for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals
- Downsview Campus Centre for Aerospace and Aviation, built from 1929 to 1944 and once the centre of aviation manufacturing and design in Canada
- Artscape Youngplace, a repurposed school building now home to a vibrant community space consisting of a public lounge, café, and free public art galleries
