About this Event
Our first Heritage Hall Juneteenth Festival Block Party is coming soon!
Saturday, June 20th, 2026
1 pm - 4 pm
Heritage Hall (83 Essex St, Guelph, On)
This gathering will bring together a community ready to celebrate Black Freedom, expression, and oral storytelling. Celebration has been our shield from hopelessness for generations, now we’re passing along the keys to resistance and resilience.
Dance, because you are free, as we enjoy a performance by the Joy in the City of Guelph Community Choir and an exhilarating DJ set.
Meet new people and engage with fellow community members in a Drum Circle and create a Community Mural.
Kids activities will include crafts, storytelling, and face painting.
Community Market & Cultural Village Highlighting Black-owned and local businesses will include:
- Food vendors featuring Caribbean and African cuisine
- Artisan craft market
- Vendor booths from local Black makers, authors, and entrepreneurs
- Community organization booths
Voices of Black History in Wellington County
During our Heritage Hall Juneteenth Block Party, we will be collecting the stories, whether it's your personal experience or the experience of a loved one, we invite you to share your story. Oral storytelling is a vital part of passing along cultural knowledge and preserving history. These discussions will be released to the public as archival documentation of this history.

This is a free event run with community compassion and care. If you have the resources, we suggest a donation of $10. Donations will help offset costs of the event and support the GBHS’s Heart and Soul campaign.
