Here for Now
About this Event
For two nights only, September 18 & 19, the Field Collective is taking over one of downtown Vancouver's most remarkable spaces for an immersive dinner exploring food, art, architecture, and time.
Presented as part of the 2026 Design Vancouver Festival, Here for Now will unfold in the historic Vancouver Block at 736 Granville Street. Built in 1912 and crowned by its distinctive clock tower, the building will become the setting for a one-time experience created by a group of Vancouver architects, artists, designers, and culinary collaborators.
Over the course of the evening, guests will move through a sequence of spaces, installations, and five food courses by Kade Philips, chef and founder of Pantalons PopUp (@jemappellepantalon). Kade's menu is being developed alongside the artists and architects involved, with each dish responding in some way to the space and experience around it. A DJ will provide the soundtrack for the evening, with music following guests through the experience and all the way to its final destination.
Three Vancouver visual artists will create interventions that guide guests through the evening, while members of the Field Collective will design and construct temporary architectural installations throughout the space. Along the way, you'll be asked to make choices that influence where you go, what you encounter, and what you eat. No two paths through the evening will be quite the same, and you won't get to experience everything.
Here for Now is built around the idea of time: how we experience it, how we remember it, and how a place can be completely transformed for a few hours before returning to what it was.
As the evening progresses, you'll also be making your way toward a final destination somewhere in the building. We're keeping that part a secret. Suffice it to say, the Vancouver Block has a few surprises at roof level. And yes, the DJ is coming with you.
