About this Event

The British Dietetic Association (BDA) is the professional association and trade union for UK Dietitians. Welcome to our latest event, organised by BDA Yorkshire Branch - winners of BDA Branch of the Year 2019-20. This event is taking place on Saturday 10th June 2023 where we will be discussing the topic 'Here Come the Girls: Female Health in Dietetics'.

As a branch, our events are aimed to give our members a brief insight into a topic and provide a forum for sharing good practice amongst BDA registered dietitians in the Yorkshire area.

Event summary:

Optimising women’s health and nutrition throughout the lifecycle must consider key physiological, neurological and hormonal distinctions identified between sexes. Evolving research is enabling practitioners to tailor nutritional interventions and educate service users on common nutritional deficiencies in women throughout the lifespan, promote health, and reduce the prevalence of chronic disease. Through a series of both virtual and in-person sessions, our evidence-based practitioners will discuss the advances in specific diet and lifestyle research to inform yourselves, close friends and family and your patients on how to optimise your overall wellbeing throughout key stages of life. Our guest speakers will be sharing their expertise on: Endometriosis, Fertility, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Menopause, Exercise and Diabetes management.

This event is just £20, running between 8:30am-15:00pm with sponsorship stalls, networking opportunities with all refreshments and lunch provided! It has been designed for students, registered dietitians/nutritionists & for the first time we will be opening limited spaces for the general public to attend. The day can be accessed both online or in person for the same rate. For those who are unable to attend, a recording of the day will be made available at a later date to purchase.

For attendees and guest speakers with HCPC registration or attending university - this event will also contribute towards your Continued Professional Development (CPD) portfolios and certificates of attendance will be sent out to attendees for evidence.

For those who wish to attend online, a virtual link will be sent in advance of the day. Attending in person will offer an invaluable opportunity to network with other healthcare professionals, friends and colleagues to share knowledge and best practice.
