Once you start growing or gathering herbs, the next step is learning how to preserve and use them effectively. In this hands-on class we’ll explore several simple methods for preserving herbal medicine and creating your own herbal teas.Topics include:
• Drying herbs for long-term storage
• Proper storage to maintain potency
• Differences between fresh vs dried herbs
• Understanding how different liquids extract herbal properties
We’ll discuss herbal preparations such as:
• Infusions and teas
• Vinegar extracts
• Oxymels (honey + vinegar)
• Witch hazel extracts
• Broths and nourishing infusions
Participants will also learn the basics of tea blending and create a simple herbal tea blend to take home.
