About this Event
Join us for Herbal Poppets with Volva Donyelle Headington!
Doll making as a means to connect with the spirit of things is a practice that spans time and space. People around the world, for thousands of years have used poppet making to connect with loved ones far away, ancestors, spirits of animals, plants and deities, to their own future children. They are used to pray for and to curse.
In this workshop, we will use poppet making to connect with the healing spirits of the plant world.
Each participant will make a one-of-a-kind doll (poppet) — sewing, stuffing, and adorning her with beads, appliqué, and bits and bobs. Spend a day getting lost in the art of doll-making; create a little poppet you can use as a focus for your healing work.
Level: Beginning
Students are welcome to but not required to bring:
Fabric for your doll - ½ yard is more than enough Yarn for hair, buttons, Thread, Scissors and any special adornments you wish to have.
A variety of dried herbs, roots and wool will be provided.
