About this Event
In the 12 weeks that you take this highly-interactive course with us online, you will acquire an enormous amount of knowledge about over 70 highly medicinal herbs, body systems, medicine making, herbal first aid, gardening, legal considerations, medicinal plant identification and even post-disaster & preparedness herbalism!

*This course will release class materials each Monday morning and will follow with one live Q&A session each week in an interactive class. Registration for this course will close on March 17th, 2025. The course begins on March 3rd, 2025.

This is an interactive 12-week herbal medicine course. You can take this anywhere you have an internet connection. You do not have to be present in our area to take the course! Classes are held via downloadable course materials and weekly live classes. Students will have full access to recorded classes, lectures, documents, videos and resources through the library classroom.
In addition, there will be approximately 2 hours (or less) of assignments per week, a student forum, supplemental webinars and new class material uploaded each week.
Students can work at their own pace, so long as the course material is completed by 30 days after the final exam date.
Also included is full library access to the current self-directed course which includes over 25 hours of video, audio, PDF and other resources. All live classes are recorded for student download.
Students will be shipped a box of herbs and materials to use during the course.
Materials you must provide at the appropriate point in the course: Olive and/or Coconut oil (approximately 2 cups total), Raw Honey (approximately 1 cup), 80 – 100 proof Alcohol (approximately 2 cups), Mason or other canning jar, basic cooking equipment (stainless steel pans and/or crockpot, strainer, measuring cup, spoons, etc.)

- Introduction to Herbology – Vitalistic and Mechanistic overview
- How to study plant medicine
- Introduction to Clinical Skills
- Maceration Tincture Making (fresh and dried), with one tincture made as a class
- Introduction to Percolation Tincture Making
- Lymphatic and Immune System Physiology and Herbs
- Gastrointestinal Physiology and Herbs
- Materia Medica (Online Herb Walks) – covers approximately 100 herbs throughout the course.
- Botany and Wildcrafting
- Introduction to Forest Gardening and growing medicinal herbs
- The Business of Herbalism (how to legally protect yourself)
- Post-disaster and remote herbalism
- Clinic and Apothecary setup and function
- One or Two long-term Student Case Studies and Herbs (Some examples of past case studies include: Hiatal Hernias, Gallstones, Chronic Digestive Issues, COPD, and Respiratory Infections)
- Upper and Lower Respiratory System Physiology and Herbs
- Respiratory Syrup Making, with one syrup made as a class
- Herbal First Aid – Poultices, plasters, capsules, primitive poultices, castor oil poultices
- Wound Healing Physiology and Herbs
- Herbs for Pain, Nervines
- Salve Making –Fresh & Dried, Ethyl vs. Pure Oil Salves, with one salve made as a class
- Upper and Lower Respiratory System Physiology and Herbs
- Upper and Lower Urinary Tract Physiology and Herbs
- Weekly Quizzes/Assignments
- Group Discussions
- Final Test (passing grade of 75% required)
Total Online Hours – 48 hours
Total Estimated homework assignments, discussions, quizzes and final test – 22 hours
You will be responsible for finishing the materials assigned each week.
Students will need a computer and internet connection to take this course.
COURSE INFORMATION
Dates: Begins March 3rd, 2025. There will be one live instructor session each week. Class materials will be released every Monday and the live class days will be Tuesday at 7pm central time. All live class sessions will be recorded.
Mid-Term Break: Tentatively scheduled for the week of April 14th.
Review and Testing Week: Loosely scheduled for the last week of class. **students can access testing at any point during that week. The library classroom will remain open for a 4 week grace geriod after the end of the course.
Materials Included: Approximately 20 packets of dried medicinal herbs that are used in the making of tinctures, salves and syrups as a class, cheesecloth and a glass percolation tincturing funnel.
International Shipping: There are additional costs involved with shipping course materials outside of the US. If you are located outside of the US, so we can help you with shipping arrangements. We offer shipping within Canada and Mexico only. (APO and AE addresses are not eligible.) International students are responsible for the expense of shipping their own course materials. There is a 30 day grace period after the last class week, to allow ample time for downloading content and finishing the course test.
