Her Mana is the collaborative project of vocalists, composers, and interdisciplinary artists Kate Robberson and Emilie Basez. Rooted in more than a decade of artistic partnership and exploration, their work lives at the intersection of music and memory.
Through folkloric melodies, global rhythms, and contemporary compositions, they create immersive sonic landscapes sung in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Their performances unfold as living installations where voice, language, and acoustic instrumentation transform space into textured environments of intimacy, reverence, and emotional depth.
Her Mana approaches sound as both medium and message: a vessel for embodiment and the sacred. Each performance invites listeners into a state of attunement where music becomes ritual.
Cultural heritage is central to their practice. Emilie, a first-generation American with roots in Argentina, draws from Latin American folklore and oral tradition to explore identity and belonging. Kate, descended from a lineage of spiritual teachers and classical musicians, brings a reverent approach to sound as a vehicle for spiritual inquiry and sensory perception.
Their collaboration began in 2012 while traveling through Brazil, where music served as a shared language of place and presence. As artists they have been featured at Austin City Limits Music Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the Northwest String Summit, and Kerrville Folk Festival. They have toured as supporting acts for Elephant Revival, The Wood Brothers, California Honey Drops, Ayla Nereo, and RYX.
Their work increasingly inhabits interdisciplinary and site-specific contexts, engaging music as a form of contemporary ritual and collective witnessing.
Their latest release is “SUENA”, set for November 2025. This visual offering was born from their pilgrimage to Lake Pátzcuaro, Michoacán; a place where the veil thins and the traditions of Día de los Muertos are carried with reverence and vitality. Created in collaboration with a collective of international artists, the video for SUENA is both an homage and an inquiry into remembrance, ancestry, and the thresholds between worlds.
